Salcomix presents new modular training concept

Global Trainer Christian Strothmann to hold first training course in January 2008 in Münster
(PresseBox) (Münster, ) The new training program by Salcomix, BASF Coatings’ industrial paint brand, provides comprehensive information on products and their correct application in the paint shop and in industry. The palette of training courses is aimed at spraypainters, sales reps, trainees and, in some cases, distributors and importers. Modern teaching methods are used to instruct participants in all things related to pretreating surfaces to be coated and the actual application of the products. The new concept is already being tested in Europe, China, and South Africa. The new training program will be officially launched in January (January 8-10, 2008) with a training seminar in Münster.

The program encompasses three days. It is arranged in six modules. The first module focuses on Health and Safety. Module 2 communicates basic information on the Salcomix system, including general background information on the Salcomix brand, an overview of different hardware and software on color matching, color tools and give-aways. In Module 3 the participants learn all kinds of things about pretreating and cleaning substrates such as steel and aluminum. The syllabus includes topics like handling the Salcomix cleaning agents, distinguishing and pretreating different surfaces, and providing an overview of plastics and plastics application. Information is also shared on sandblasting and galvanized substrates, which is particularly important for industrial coating.

Modules 4 to 6 involve hands-on experience. Here, theory is underscored by practical exercises. The module "Product Portfolio Undercoats" aims to expand know-how related to the entire range of undercoat materials, including product properties and application. The "Topcoats" product portfolio (Salcomix offers 18 different topcoat systems alone!) is presented as part of Module 5. The focus of this module is learning about the paint system's advantages and flexibility, which is best done through hands-on practice. For Module 6, Salcomix works together with application systems manufacturers. Training participants are expected to acquire skills in areas such as airless or double-membrane pumps, tailored to individual requirements and the conventional techniques used in industry.

By the way, the first Salcomix Global Trainer is Christian Strothmann, who has already conducted the test training sessions. He now hopes to use the "Train the Trainer" principle in the seminars to gradually train the National Head Trainers, who in turn will be leading the valuable training and continuing education courses in their regions.
