JTAG Technologies Finalist in the 2010 EDN Awards and Best-In-Test Awards from Test And Measurement

Company's latest product development selected for outstanding performance
JFT ART (PresseBox) (Eindhoven, the Netherlands, ) JTAG Technologies has been selected by EDN as one of the finalists in the Design, Debug and Production Test and Yield Analysis category of the prestigious EDN Innovation program for 2009. Finalists were selected by the editors of EDN, a leading publication servicing the semiconductor and electronic design community, based on demonstrated innovation that resulted in significant advance in technology or product development during the past year.

The winning product, JTAG LiveT is the breakthrough product for design engineers to debug boards too crowded for traditional probing. JTAG Live enables you to sense signal levels on prototype PCBs, verify proper continuity between pins or groups of pins, and check basic operation.

All that's needed to get started are the BSDL files for the board (there's no need for a netlist) and one of the popular JTAG programming cables from Altera, Xilinx or the JT 3705/USB Explorer controller from JTAG Technologies to connect to your board.

JTAG Live consists of three tools, Buzz, Clip, and Script, that you can use separately or in combination. Buzz provides the ability to quickly sample, drive or sense pins from boundaryscan devices to check connections between them. Clip creates, saves and runs vectorbased cluster tests. Script provides a functional, deviceoriented test approach, taking control of a design via the onboard JTAG devices.

JTAG Technologies is also in the group of finalists for the

'Bestin-Test-Award 2009' from Test and Measurement Publication. Here the JFT Modules from JTAG Technologies are amongst the most prestigious new products for 2009.

The JTAG Functional Test (JFT) offers now simplifying test preparation and interpretation of results for sequential clusters, testing mixed signal parts such as ADCs and DACs, testing parts that require user intervention, looping test patterns to set up device registers, etc. JFT is the first product to emerge from boundaryscan technology that uses a recognized opensource programming language to give the test designer the ability to use JTAG devices to verify the functionality of non-JTAG devices or clusters. As a plugin module to JTAG Technologies' pacesetting ProVision tool, JFT builds on the boundaryscan resources (BSDL files and models) adding a powerful command and control environment to manipulate and sense cluster I/Os. Within JFT, scripts are quickly prepared by means of a builtin Python script editor and a code template to perform the tests and collect the results. The available functions for any cluster device with the associated Python test model are directly visible in the editor. Other timesaving features are automatic completion lists and display of available function parameters within the tooltip.

JFT uses the Python programming language, a generalpurpose highlevel programming language that supports objectorientated programming. Using Python module programming in combination with ProVision's connection database also means that device test code can be written solely from the functional cluster perspective. The "bind model" feature encourages reuse of cluster tests by automatically mapping deviceundertest pins to active boundaryscan pins.
