MTU Maintenance succeeds in entering the South Korean market

Asiana Airlines sends CF6-80 engines to Hannover for overhaul
(PresseBox) (Hannover, ) South Korean carrier Asiana Airlines has selected MTU Maintenance Hannover to provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for its CF6-80C2 engines. "By winning the contract from this major airline, we've added the first carrier from South Korea to our MRO customer base," stated Dr. Stefan Weingartner, President, Commercial Maintenance at MTU Aero Engines. Asia is a booming region with a rapidly growing demand for air transport services.

The five-year maintenance agreement signed today covers the CF6-80C2 engines powering Asiana's Boeing 767 and 747 fleets. Asiana, which has its headquarters in Seoul, is among the leading airlines in Asia and has won several awards and honors. It currently operates a mixed fleet of 72 Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

The MTU Maintenance network of companies, the largest independent provider of commercial engine maintenance services, is the MRO arm of MTU Aero Engines, Germany's leading engine manufacturer and the country's only independent engine builder. MTU has a workforce of some 8,200 employees worldwide. MTU excels in low-pressure turbines, high-pressure compressors, manufacturing and repair techniques. In the mili-tary arena, it is Germany's industrial lead company for nearly all the en-gines flown by the country's air force.
