OZ Optics Presents New Optical Components for 2 micron Wavelengths (PresseBox) (Martinsried, ) The 2.X micron wavelength range is of special importance for applications such as gas detection, long-range LIDAR applications, free-space optical communication, medical diagnostics, laser surgery, material processing and security applications.

Given the emerging importance of this area our partner OZ Optics has taken a leadership role to provide you with a variety of components for these wavelengths.

Lasers with this operating wavelength range are particularly useful for CO2 gas detection for environmental control. Furthermore, LIDARmeasurements and optical free-space telecommunications can be carried out within the 2-2.5 micron wavelength range where the atmosphere is particularly transparent.

Medical applications such blood glucose monitoring and laser surgery are other promising areas of development.

Recently semiconductor lasers have been developed for this wavelength range, and single mode and polarization maintaining optical fibers have been produced.
