IHSE simplifies the extension and format conversion of digital signals (PresseBox) (Oberteuringen, ) IHSE, a worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced KVM products for the switching and extension of computer signals, today announces the release of the new, highly-flexible Draco vario Repeater family. The new product range is highly suitable for the bridging of Draco tera switches in case of matrix failures.

KVM extenders are used for the extension of computer signals up to 140 meters with Cat X cable and 10 km with single-mode fiber optic cable. The installation of repeaters at intervals within a signal path multiplies the distance the signal can be transmitted to.

The new Draco vario Repeater family incorporates cross-conversion between Cat X and fiber cables. Signals available on a Cat X network may be converted to fiber for transmission and converted back to Cat X at the receiver (or vice-versa). This is useful in bridging buildings with copper-based networks that are located some distance apart. High-quality signal processing and integral amplification ensures no signal degradation or transmission artifacts. Both device options can be deployed between extenders or matrices and between extender and matrix.

Cross repeater allows fallback scenario

The cross repeater works with Draco vario extenders with the redundant option. The cross repeater is installed in a secondary path to provide backup to the primary KVM matrix switch. In the event of failure, signals are transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver through the cross repeater, bypassing the matrix.

The Draco vario Repeater family features bidirectional data ports: Cat X and fiber ports are individually configurable as inputs or outputs. No additional configuration is required. Single- and dual-repeater board versions are available for installation in Draco vario frame enclosures.
