IGEL supports Windows MultiPoint Server 2012 to offer a low-cost virtual desktop solution for Education (PresseBox) (New York, USA, ) IGEL Technology continued its rapid expansion in the north American market with unit sales of its German-engineered thin and zero clients rising 72% in the US in the first half of 2015, according to the latest analyst report from International Data Corporation (IDC). IGEL was also one of only two of the major manufacturers in the market to grow its market share year-on-year. The company also began sales in Canada and immediately broke into the top 5 thin and zero client providers in the country.

Gary Sharp, IGEL Sales Director for North America, said: “With our dedicated focus on the desktop, our quality German engineering and our commitment to building flexible and easily managed devices that can operate in all major IT infrastructures, IGEL has continued to make significant inroads in the North American market. For businesses looking to cut their desktop costs and minimize their management time using server-based, cloud or virtualized computing, IGEL Technology is the natural choice.”

IGEL thin clients are a reliable, cost efficient and energy saving alternative to PCs. They increase data security and help comply with regulations such as HIPAA, as sensitive data is not stored locally and the use of USB-ports can be managed remotely by the administrator. Thin clients are more reliable than PCs and increase the overall availability of IT because they contain no moving parts, such as fans or rotating hard drives. IGEL thin clients are ideal for the introduction of cloud, virtual and classic server-based computing because they can be more efficiently managed from a central location and consume less energy than traditional PCs - helping to reduce costs and deliver a better return on investment.
