Industrial production of small quantities no longer has to be expensive. Robozän™ GmbH i.G., the worldwide first temporary employment agency for robots has been offering a resource-efficient solution for companies since November 2015. “Through this new concept to make the working world more flexible, we contribute decisively to ensuring Europe as a production location and address the increasing individualisation of both products and numbers produced”, says Managing Director Matthias Krinke, the only human employed in his Robozän™ GmbH i.G. company. The idea to provide robots via their temporary employment occurred to robot pioneer and entrepreneur Krinke with the introduction of the new workerbot™, as the third generation of robots from pi_robotics), which can be used particularly rapidly and flexibly.

Through use of a staff agency, robot owners can make their robots available to other companies; and can do it without any additional effort! This task is taken on by the temporary employment agency: whether it concerns obtaining work, transport to the place of work, training for the work or insurance of the robots. The owner receives a monthly wage slip for the minimum wage (in Germany) of 8.50 Euro per hour. As an additional service, Robozän™ sends a statement on “movable assets” at the end of the year for tax declaration purposes.

Advantages for company customers wanting to hire a robot as a temporary worker are obvious: after a short induction stage, the robot can work continuously 24 hours round the clock for seven days in the week. The only obligation for the customer is a limited contract of employment of at least 6 months of 2-shift work. This can however be extended after 6 months as desired, or cancelled with a period of notice of 4 weeks. Aside from the minimum wage rate, the customer is confronted only with a moderate administration and agency fee.

A rewarding all-round packet for all those involved, and one which gets up to speed in an orderly manner: since its foundation almost four months ago, the company has already been able to convince customers in white consumer goods and automotive production areas of its concept. “We presently have vacancies for production staff in the plastic processing industry”, Krinke reports. The human robots should take parts from a conveyor belt, submit them to optical control and then pack them.
